Wiley's subscription and open access journal content is now part of DrillBit's similarity index.

B ENGALURU, India, October 7, 2026 — DrillBit SofTech India Pvt. Ltd. has signed a content licensing agreement with Wiley to add the full text of the publisher's subscription and open access journal content to DrillBit's similarity index. This addition will improve DrillBit's ability to identify potential plagiarism at a time when research article outputs are on the rise in India.

1. What Changes for Institutions

• Better reports, same subscription: Content from the Wiley Online Library is embedded within DrillBit, meaning that institutions receive wider coverage on the plan they already hold. • Coverage across the faculties: The Wiley Online Library spans medicine, life sciences, social sciences and humanities, so the addition of this content provides greater insights across disciplines. • A link to the source: Where a match comes from Wiley content, the report links to the article on the Wiley Online Library. Opening it there will depend on the institution's own Wiley subscription, or on the article being open access. • A check before submission: Authors and supervisors can see where a manuscript stands against Wiley's published record before it goes to a journal.

2. How the Content Is Used

The licence enables DrillBit to screen submitted content against the Wiley corpus of published articles. Institutions, faculty and students do not receive reading access to that content, and DrillBit neither displays nor redistributes it. The use is similarity and plagiarism detection, nothing else.

3. What They Said

"The integrity of the published record matters to a publisher as much as it does to an examiner, and Wiley has shown its commitment to this. Bringing their journals into our checks puts that shared concern to work in the tool universities use every day. We are grateful to Wiley for the collaboration. It will improve the integrity and the quality of the work universities and students put their names to." — Jayanna Belavadi, Chief Executive Officer, DrillBit SofTech India Pvt. Ltd. "Maintaining the integrity of the scientific record is a shared commitment, and one that we're happy to advance with DrillBit, especially as usage and publication in Wiley journals from authors across India continues to grow." — Ritesh Kumar, Senior Director, Wiley
